Education | Stephen F. Austin State University
Bachelor’s in Business Administrations – Class of Spring 2011
At Stephen F. Austin, I was a part of the D1 baseball program for a year and then I joined the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. During most of my college years I worked at the local bar, and I was able to help with the organization of social events for both the fraternity and the bar that led me to my passion in the Hospitality Industry. |
Experience | Bartender
Bullfrogs/Anex – Nacogdoches, Tx – January 2008 – August 2011 Pub Fiction – Houston, Tx – September 2011 – December 2014 Celtic Gardens – Houston, Tx – March 2012 – December 2014 Shot Bar – Houston, Tx – December 2013 – December 2014 Sage County – Houston, Tx – December 2014 – September 2016 K Ramen Burger Beer/The Cape – Miami, FL – September 2016 – May 2017 McIntyre’s Spirits & Friends – Houston, Tx – October 2016 – July 2019
At each venue I became the lead bartender and was able to make a positive impact to the entire team. Along with the basic duties of lead bartender, I was able to take on many managerial duties to help relieve the stress from upper management. Through my college years I was able to experience the volume to succeed in multiple environments. I then made the transition to the Houston market where I was able to get the volume, I received in college with more emphasis on paying attention the details of the craft. Over the years I was able to manage and bartend to get both sides of the job as a bartender holding a manager title and responsibility. All the venues located in Houston, Tx and are operated under the same operator. I then made the move to Miami to experience a new environment after reaching a point of complacency and an eagerness to learn more in the industry. This gave me another perspective of the possibilities and what I would like to be a part of and work on myself. Making this move presented new opportunities that lead to me consulting with another project in Chicago, and later returning to Houston to help in a concept behind the bar.
Manager / General Manager
Pub Fiction – Houston, Tx – December 2012 – December 2014 Sage County – Houston, Tx – December 2014 – September 2016
Being a lead bartender in each venue allowed me to the opportunity to be a positive impact to the team and establishment. Taking on additional managerial duties allowed me to relieve stress from upper managements while gaining knowledge and experience in sound decision making. Becoming a manager at Pub Fiction came very quickly and this led to me as the General Manager for a short time before pursuing other opportunities of advancement. I gained a great foundation for my journey being the General Manager of Pub Fiction, and this has helped me make decisions with confidence while working in this industry. Sage County presented another opportunity to help a new business gain the success that has help fuel other adventures. Most positions, since my start at Pub Fiction, have put me in a lead position because of the trust I have been able to build with ownership and their management staff.
Consulting / Owner / Operator
Tavern 57 – Chicago, IL – May 2017 – October 2017 ABD Hospitality, LLC – Reflect HTX – Houston, Tx – December 2019 – March 2020 ABD Hospitality, LLC – FAO HTX – Houston, Tx – February 2021 – Present A&B Effect, LLC – Houston, Tx – February 2022 – Present
Tavern 57 – Spending a summer in Chicago to help remodel and orchestrate the business model to set the foundation for Tavern 57’s opening. Tavern 57 is a neighborhood bar, located in the middle of Lincoln Park. I was the lead in the design, layout, organization of venue, training material, employee duties, establish relationships with alcohol representatives, design of cocktail menu, and the selection of the beer and wine.
Reflect HTX – After many years of preparation and an opportunity to go into business with my fellow business partners presented itself. We acquired a venue in Midtown, The 3rd Floor, remodeled Fall 2019 to open our own concept, Reflect, in December 2019. Reflect was a boutique lounge that focused on creating quality cocktails with fresh ingredients at an efficient rate. Unfortunately, due to COVID we were forced to shut down operations.
FAO HTX – After reevaluating our situation and looking at the need for the area, we were able to come up with a concept that has adapted the identity of an Interactive Speakeasy Party Bar. At FAO, we aim to make our guest feel like a long time regular, even if it is their first time to visit us. Our guest can enjoy quality cocktails in a unique environment that offers games and plenty of Instagram worthy pics.
A&B Effect, LLC – To continue working in our passion, we have started a consulting company to help others with their dreams of owning and operating a bar. With our experience, we feel we can provide the knowledge to help others operate a successful bar. Along our journey, we have been able to understand what it takes to own and operate a thriving business in the Hospitality Industry.
